“My name is Mr. Othman
Khuzaim 28 years old from Dubai, UAE I am glad to be given the opportunity to share my journey with you and
to whoever may benefit from the hope generated by my story.
I struggled with life’s daily stresses like
everyone else. When I started feeling numbness on my face, my doctor told me to
slow down and take it easy. But the numbness didn’t subside and eventually
spread to the entire right side of my face. An MRI discovered a schwannoma, a
non-malignant tumor, On a sensory nerve of my brain. My diagnosis came
out of the blue. One day I was fine, the next I had a brain tumor. I didn’t
know much about different types of brain tumors, only that my father had died
from one when I was 5 years old so I was stunned. Fortunately, mine was different. My tumor was not malignant like his father’s; the tumor was sitting
on the sensory nerve that controlled feeling to part of the right side of my face.
My surgeon explained that surgery came with
risks: if surgeons clipped the nerve, I could lose feeling permanently. He
recommended treatment with the CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System – a
non-invasive alternative to treating the tumor. Then my doctor in Dubai recommended
me to seek treatment overseas, as delay in treatment might be life-threatening
in my case and the available resources in the country weren't able to cyberknife
robotic radiosurgery system or treat my condition. My family didn’t waste any
time and quickly started looking for options online and got in touch with Tour2India4Health

We

After my treatments, the numbness in his face
began to subside. My follow-up MRIs show that the tumor has shrunk dramatically
in size. Today, I have regained all the feeling on the right side of my
face…even my taste buds are working again. Technology has come so far since
when my father was diagnosed with brain cancer. I don’t know where I would be
today if it wasn’t for cyberknife by Dr. Rana Patir in
Delhi. I was initially told that I would lose my ability to smell.
The testing of my ability to detect different scents before surgery was so
thorough and the doctors did everything possible to preserve my ability to
smell. I’m so happy to report that they were successful in those efforts and
every time I smell the sea or night-blooming jasmine I think of what could have
been and am so grateful.
